BODYVIVE in Action!

Try a class, you'll have lots of fun!

 

Your club dues have been hard at work the past couple of months.

AWESOME NEW CARDIO EQUIPMENT – Last week the four new ARC Trainers arrived and were promptly put to use. These new models have moving arms to include your entire body in the exercise and the results you will see are amazing. Plan to try one during your next workout.

KIDS ROOM FACELIFT – You may have noticed the Kids Room is sporting a fresh new look. We painted it with some fun new colors and installed new carpet. Please remember the NO FOOD rule so we can keep it clean for your family.

LIFESAVING AED INSTALLED – Safety is important to you and us, so we purchased and installed an Automated External Defibrillator. You can see it mounted on the wall next to the Reception Desk. Our staff has been trained on its use along with their CPR training.

LOCKER ROOM WET AREA UPDATE – Have you seen the new look in the locker room? We have heard lots of positive comments about the color, we like it too!

GRAB THE CASH REFERRAL PROGRAM – Refer a friend to WomenFit who becomes a member and earn a chance to Grab the Cash! The pot started at $500, has grown to $800! Working out with a friend has proven to be a great motivator to increased participation (which increases your results!). You still have time to share the gift of fitness with friends, family, co-workers and others and possibly win the chance to Grab the Cash! The program has been extended another week (expiring Thursday 2/7) so hurry or it will be too late. Plan to attend the cash grabbing party on Friday February 8 from 7 – 9 PM. It will be lots of fun!

BODYVIVE 5 LAUNCH – We were delayed a week due to snow, but on Friday 1/25 at 10:30 AM, we launched the great new release of BODYVIVE. This release is about fitness, fun and being free to be. Musically it is a blast and it features new moves that everyone will love. Plan to attend a class (Tuesdays 6:30 PM and Fridays 10:30 AM) and get a great low impact workout and leave fizzing with energy!

WEIGHT LOSS SEMINAR – You missed the opportunity to learn about how to effectively lose weight and keep it off at the two seminars held Tuesday 1/22 at 10:30 AM or Wednesday 1/23 at 6:30 PM. Watch for the next seminar on this topic.

BODYFLOW 39 LAUNCH – Everyone enjoyed this great new release on Saturday 1/26 at 10:30 AM. We explored some great new moves set to smooth music. If you haven’t tried this class you will be amazed at both the strength and flexibility gains achieved through regular participation.

RESOLVE TO EVOLVE PROGRAM – Reshape your mind body and spirit by keeping your resolution to improve your health and fitness this year. This program encourages you to exercise and learn at the same time. Earn points for your assigned team every time you participate. Earn extra team points by correctly answering the question of the week as the teams challenge and motivate each other in a fun and positive atmosphere. This free program started Monday 1/21.

SMALL GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING – Have you seen how many people are engaged in personal training these days on the fitness floor? They are working in small groups with personal trainers who have created individualized programs for each participant. We guarantee results for those participating. BODYPUMP 64 LAUNCH – The house was Pumping and rocking starting at 6:00 AM on 1/8 (yes, that was 6 AM!). Our morning exercisers had the first chance to experience this energetic and challenging new release.

KIDS NIGHT OUT – Plan YOUR night out for Saturday February 9. We will take care of the kids while you have some time for yourself. Food, fun and organized activities are what your children will experience. Drop off at 6:30 PM, pick up by 10:30 PM. Cost is $15 per child. You must register at the Reception Desk in advance.

Whew! As you can see, there is a lot going on and that in addition to the normal class schedule (
www.WomenFit.com). If you haven’t been in recently please do so immediately. Make the time for 30 minutes of activity in your life every day, your health depends upon it. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

At WomenFit we are dedicated to the health and fitness of women.  This month our focus is on supporting the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization.  Formerly known as the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, the name and logo were changed in celebration of its 25th birthday and they are shifting into another gear.  With renewed urgency and inspiration.  With an energized commitment to finally, once and for all finish what they started.  Find a cure for breast cancer. 

WomenFit has supported the organization for 6 years and, with your help has donated over $18,000.  We have several fun events planned for this month to continue the tradition of support.  We hope you will participate and give generously to this wonderful cause in support of finding a cure for breast cancer.

 

BBQ Tailgate Party for Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Sunday 10/7, Noon – 4 PM

Join us for the fun in support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Delicious food, fun games and excellent prizes along with the Redskins game for those of you who are fans.  Bring you friends, family and neighbors – we need your support to make this a success.  Make this commitment and put it on your calendar right now.  Required donation is $5 per person.

Kids (Parents) Night Out – WomenFit Watches the Kids!

Saturday 10/13, 5:30 PM – 11 PM

Do you need a night out for yourself without the kids?  We have the answer!  On Saturday the 13th you can drop the kids at WomenFit at 5:30 and we’ll take care of them until 11 PM.  They will be served dinner, play games and have a great time while you do the same!  This is in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the required donation is $12 per child (that’s $2.18 an hour, what a bargain!).  Ages 6 months to 12 years.  Please register at the reception desk.  Call Rebecca, Lana or Natalie for further information at 703-530-8348.

Aerobathon supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Monday 10/22, 9:30 AM – 12 Noon; 5:30 PM – 8 PM

This event has been a big hit for everybody the past 5 years and we promise to once again, provide a wonderful mix of group exercise classes for this fund raiser.  The classes have a 30 minute format so you can sample from a huge variety.  The instructors are all donating their time and WomenFit is donating their normal wages to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  We ask you contribute as well and make this a big success!

Challenge the Trainers

This is your opportunity to beat any of the Trainers or WomenFit Staff in a challenge of YOUR CHOICE.  What does that mean?  YOU pick the challenge, you set the rules so if you are really great at holding your breath and want to challenge a Trainer or Staff member, GO FOR IT!  Watch the board and see who challenges who and to what!  Hey, it’s all about the fun and community we are building so please participate.

BodyFLOW Launch

Saturday 10/27, 10:30 AM

Now is a great time to try this class for the first time or revisit the format.  We are headed to a little different space in this release.  It has intense stillness, great focus and power and a rich new combination of moves and poses.  If you are new to class, just bring yourself and a desire to experience BodyFLOW.  Everybody will feel balanced, energized and motivated at the end of class.

BodyVIVE Launch

Tuesday 10/30 6:30 PM

Come experience the latest release of BodyVIVE - it's about simple moves and providing lots of options for participants to have fun while experiencing a great workout, whatever the fitness level.

This time there is a great DISCO feel running through the class, with moves from Saturday Night Fever and the Brooklyn Hustle setting the scene.  The music throughout the class will be a huge crowd-pleaser so don't miss it!

Tricks for Pics

Wednesday 10/31

Another Halloween is upon us and Yvonne has the camera out again ready to take your (or your kid’s) picture.  Cardio will be on hand if you want an added model in the picture, that’s your choice.  This has been great fun the past couple of years and generates some really good pictures for your albums.  Plan to stop by for a photo shoot!

 

BODYVIVE Continues to Draw Enthusiasts

What is it? This is a low-impact class integrating 3 components:

  1. Heart Fitness from cardio exercises
  2. Resistance training for strength and stability
  3. Core and mobility work for a firm foundation

What equipment is used? We use VIVE Balls, VIVE Tubes and OPTIONAL Hand Weights to lead participants through a varied workout that activates and empowers your body.

Who should take this class? BODYVIVE is ideally suited to new exercisers and people who want a simple to follow, low-impact group program that delivers results!  First-timers do not need to be fit - just able to move freely and with a desire to enjoy themselves.

So, describe a typical class. BODYVIVE consists of 12 working tracks, which provid a full-body workout where you set your own pace. We start with a simple warm-up, move to "heart fitness", continue with "functional strength" blocks before a final set of core and restorative exercises.

The basic structure is fixed but the moves and music will change when a new class is release every 3 months. VIVE Balls and VIVE Tubes are used in some tracks because of the opportunities they offer to exercise the body in different ways and at optional intensity levels.

What do I need to bring? Bring water and a towel.  Wear confortable clothing - yes, a T-shirt and track pants are fine.  Turn up with the desire to get active and have some fun. 

Friends are highly recommended!!

What will it do for me? BODYVIVE offers an enjoyable, motivating group fitness experience that delivers real fitness results.  Specifically, BODYVIVE is designed to deliver:

  • Improved muscular strength and endurance
  • Increased heart fitness
  • Improved flexibility and range of movement
  • Better agility and balance
  • Improved posture
  • Weight loss through elevated calorie consumption
  • Reduced risk of bone and joint degeneration
  • General wellness and "feel good" benefits

Why is WomenFit the FIRST in Northern Virginia to offer this class? We believe this class will fill a very important need for many of our members and non-members.  It is designed for motivated people who want a low-impact, easy to follow workout. 

It works your entire body and leaves you "fizzing with energy". The music is really great and a lot of fun.  You might even hum or sing along with it - you will know most of the words.

We have noticed that many people are scared to get involved in the Group Exercise classes because they seem too hard or complicated. This class is led by wonderful, caring instructors that will make sure you enjoy the class all while exercising.  It's called Exertainment (a combo of exercise and entertainment).

WomenFit of Lake Ridge has New Owners! 

On August 16th , we turned over the operation and ownership of WomenFit of Lake Ridge to the new owners, Kelly Kirk and Mario Pieri. Many of you have already had the opportunity to meet these fine folks and talk to them about their future plans for the club. Those of you who have yet to meet them will quickly see that they are excited and ready to move head first into this new venture. 

Thank you for your continued support over the years.  We are confident you will enjoy the new club.  Please continue to exercise and stay healthy!
